Analysis Office - Is 'Allow external access to this Query' optional?

Hi,

Is 'Allow external access to this Query' optional for Analysis Office? I have tried connecting through BICS and observe that I also have access to BEx queries where 'By OLE DB for OLAP' is not checked.

Hi,

Yes, you don't have to activate this access mode for analysis. And as all OLAP functions is not supported with this access mode, you'd better not.

Thanks for your response. So , do you mean that checking the option would give me access to all OLAP functions, where 'not checking' won't.

Can you provide me what are the additional features supported when the option is checked? or let me know where can I find the resources for this.

I don't have the list but you will only be able to check the option if the query contains no unsupported function. Otherwise an error will occur.
