I have problem in Stock Transport Order, i am not able to enter anything in item category, i have defined two category in item category like, D - Service and U - Stock transfer.
If you wnat to Use item Cat as D as service then create the PO with the help of STD PO doc type.or create the new doc type for only Services and allow the item cat as D only n SPRO >PO>doc setting.
As i have explained earlier that i want STO with item category D. For reference i have checked in IDES there it is allwoing to enter both item categories but i m not able to find out the SPRO setting how to do it.
Of course , When you use the T Code:ME27 is meant to be for create STO only, in that screen u cant be able to choose/select any other item cat then only for "U"
When i am trying to create STO then i am not able to enter anything in item category field while i have defined to item category i can see both the category in the STO but item category field not allowing to select anyone.
Could you please tell which t-code you are using???
IF you going throught ME21n and selecting document type as STOCK TRANSFER ORDER and the ITEM CATEGORY FIELD is not allowing you to make any changes means you might have done setting as DISPLAY

here select your document type
and then slect basic data, item
here make Item category as OPTIONAL ENTRY and then try
Also check setting at document level

select UB and click on allowed ITEM CATEGORY and check whether u ahve maintained or not
ME27 also having the same result only item category U is allowed by default no other category allowed and in Define Screen Layout at Document Level i made item category optional
u r using stock transport order type,then why r u trying to use anyother item category???????its beyond logic i think so since if u want to use D,then go for a normal service PO.
If u have maintained all this setting then as soon as u enter org data and material ITEM CATEGORY will come automatically means maintained item category
i dont think service can be done for a document type.STO means a document type which u can only use for stock transport order.To make it unique the item category is used as U.If u see thru spro the item category U and D completely differently defined.Whenever u will be using D,the document will be known as a service po and not sto service po.
