We deleted an AO workbook in development and would like to promote this change to quality. We promoted the folder in which this workbook resided but there was no change in quality system. How do you promote a deleted workbook in Analysis for Office (AO)

There is no way to do it. That's due to the fact that there is no change recording like in Netweaver. The options are:

  • Create a "deleted objects" folder and do not delete the object but move it to the deleted objects folder (but you can not avoid deleting of objects because this right is also needed for moving objects - which means if someone use the delete Option you systems are out of sync)
  • Use federation instead of Promotion Management which allows you to synchronize Folders (but with federation you have no option to promote single objects within a folder)
  • Delete the object also in target systems

I don't know why there is no Change Management and why SAP has no interest do improve this product. Most people which only work with BO don't know how bad this is solved and are used to it. There argumentation is that it is not possible to promote an object which is deleted and this has to be done in target systems manually.

Thanks Torstern. That's what I heard but didn't believe it. It's hard to believe that they have not devised a solution for this.

I will look into federation but if it prevents to promote single object, its not very helpful in my day to day job. Appreciate the answer.
