LSO-Partial external access to courses

Hi

We need to restrict external access to few courses, meaning employees cannot access these courses outside the organisation. Rest of the courses can be accessed.

Is this possible?

Robin,

Could you please clarify your question. Not sure what it is that you are asking. Do you mean that non-employees could access your system, but only certain courses?

What do you mean by external access? A customer facing LSO portal? Or just accessing your normal LSO portal from home (like using a VPN)?

Also, if you could explain why you have the requirement, that is also helpful.

Hi Gary

Thank you for your response.

Our scenario is an employee access the LSO portal from home through citrix, and he is allowed to access some courses but not all. Meaning we need to restrict external access to specific courses. Is this possible?

Robin,

Sorry...I do not have any experience with this scenario. But to clarify your question, do you expect the restriction to certain courses to be the same when employee logs in from home using Citrix as when they are in the office? Or is this a restriction only when the employee logs in from home, and there is no restriction at work?

I'm also curious why the business feels they need this restriction?

Hey Gary,

your answer to Robin makes me think that you might be able to understand our issue.

Our client wants to use LSO for training mainly their customers' employees. So the question is:

is there any web-based access screen like in eREC where an external can register, automatically gets user ID and PW and then is able to use LSO (I know there isn't but maybe you have an idea)

is there a standard way to get the customer information from SD to LSO (as in SD the customer's address data and everything is already there)?

Thanks in advance

Hi Stephanie,

SAP does not offer a Customer-Facing portal solution for LSO at this time. So to implement a Customer-Facing Portal solution that will meet your needs, you have to build your own if needed in the near future.

I'm not sure of SAP's current plans for this scenario. If this a business need for your company, you should make sure that you have passed this on to SAP.

Regards,

Gary
