S4 Retail 1610 how to use mm41 create generic material?

hi friends,

IN S4 Retail 1610 when I used Tcode:mm41 create generic mtaterial ,the sytem required input var.class type and variant class this different the ecc version,

please tell me how to configure?

Hi,

To create a generic article in SAP ERP, you usually assign variant-creating characteristics to either a merchandise category or a characteristics profile.
In SAP S/4HANA, the characteristics assigned to a configuration class are used to create generic articles.

So please use class type 300 for creating variants.

Steps:
CT04 create characteristics
CL02 create your class with type 300, assigning the characteristics
(WG21 create the merchandise category) [optional]
WG22 assign the recently created characteristic profile to the merchandise category
MM41 will now accept this configuration and the assigned characteristics to the class will offer you the options for creating the variants.
