Work flow is the Mandatory step in MDM Scenarios?? How to define Work fllow with example pls explain..

Hi,

Workflow is not the mandatory in any MDM Scenario it is just used to perform some Automatic actions like running the several Assignments,Validations etc on some events like record Add,Update etc.

For workflow creation follow the steps below:

1. Install the Microsoft Visio

2. Install the WorkflowInstall_Ver setup available with the MDM Installables.

3. Login to MDM Data Manager and select the Workflows table from the drop down list of tables.

4. Add the new workflow and select the table first before saving because once the workflow has been saved table cannot be changed.Also set the other properties accordingly like Trigger Actions,AutoLaunch as per the requirement.

5. Click on the Wokflow to lauch the Microsoft Visio where you can design the workflow.

Wokflows is not a mandatory step in MDM.Your scenario can run wothout you creating a Workflow. However it is always better to optimize the functionalities of a product and use it in your case.

Workflows play a very important role in Governance of Data.

As in most companies people in the Management have their roles assigned to them. And Master Data being so confidential to a company, only authorized users should get the access to the same.

Hence Workflows use the capability of Security provided with in SAP MDM. You can Enrich the data in a Workflow and monitor the status of a record.

How to define Work fllow with example pls explain..

Workflows are created in MDM Data Manager.

Please follow the steps:

1. Choose the Workflow table as your current Table in the Data Manager.

2. Set the properties of the same.

3. Open the Visio and then choose the stencils you want to use.

4. Every stencil has its own properties and a role/user can be used to perform the step. This provide security to the master data..

For ex. a simple Workflow can be :

Start->Process->Stop

In the process you can do the enrichment of the Data.

5. Then you can save the VISIO and you will a Workflow ready.

6. Select some records from teh record mode and run the Workflow from there bny right clicking.
