When I try to install Screen Painter from my laptop the system say :

Add-on Screen Painter : Add-on Installation failed beause another version is already installed. Ensure that the version number is higher than the version previously installed.

But this is not true !! in my installation list there is not SAP screen painter.

Hi,

you could find out the solution from this SAP notes:

How to clean client after corrupt installation of add-on(s)

Symptom

One of following symptom discriptions may fit to the situation:

  • An installation of an add-on or of all add-ons failed. As a result, the installation process of the add-ons will not start, even though they are assigned to the company in the add-on administration. No error message appears.

OR

  • The following message appears when initializing an add-on: "Add-On XX Add-On installation failed because another version is alreadyinstalled. Upgrade Common DB".

OR

  • A user has accidentially uninstalled one or several add-ons using Add/Remove Programs on the Microsoft Windows Control Panel. As a result, the installation process of the add-ons will not start, even though they are assigned to the companyin the add-on administration. No error message appears.

If one of these symptom descriptions fit to your scenario, follow the steps described below.

Other terms

Add-On; Addon; SBO; B1; SB1; BusinessOne; Business One; Business; One; initialization; initialisation; installation; install; set-up; setup; function; add-on manager; addon manager; failed; version; already; add-on administration; addon administration; upgrade Common DB; common db;

Reason and Prerequisites

  • SAP Business One does not recognize the removal of add-ons using the Add/Remove function.

  • If an older version of the add-on is already installed on the client and the user tries to install a new version, SAP Business One cannot re-install the add-on, even though the add-on does not appear in the Add-On Administration window.

Solution

  • Start SAP Business One. Log on to the appropriate company.

  • Choose 'Administration' -> 'Add-ons' -> 'Add-on Administration'.

  • Remove the add-on(s) from the company by marking them and clicking the left arrow button.

  • Choose 'OK'.

  • Close SAP Business One.

  • In Microsoft Windows, choose 'Start' -> 'Control Panel' -> 'Add or Remove Programs'.

  • Check if any SAP Business One add-on(s) are displayed in the list.

  • If an add-on is included, uninstall it by choosing 'Remove'.

  • Using Windows Explorer, locate this folder: 'C:\Program Files\SAP Manage\SAP Business One\AddOns\sap'. This path is for the default installation folder on the client. If you chose a different folder during the installation process, locate that folder. Delete all subfolders (folders named like the add-ons) and, if present, the "_common" folder (which contains the framework for add-ons).

  • Locate this folder: 'C:\Program Files\SAP Manage\SAP Business One'. This is the default path for standard installation. If you chose a different folder during the installation process, locate that folder.

  • Delete these files: 'AddOnsInstall.sbo' and 'AddOnsLocalRegistration.sbo'

  • Start SAP Business One.

  • Log on to the appropriate company.

  • Choose 'Administration' -> 'Add-ons' -> 'Add-on Administration'.

  • Reassign the add-on(s) to the company.

  • Choose 'OK'.

  • Restart SAP Business One.

The add-ons will now be installed automatically and should work properly.

Guiseppe,

check the file AddOnsLocalRegistration.sbo in SBO directory and search BK_ScreenPainter.exe. If is it there and you havent it on addons list, remove the proper node for screen painter (from node <addon to </addon >) and run the SBO again.
