DTW to move GL accounts

Experts,

Can I use DTW to move accounts to the correct placement within the same section?

I know I can use DTW to move it to another parent section, but not sure on placement within the same section.

Hi Marli,

It would seem that there is no template to allow you to determine the order of the accounts in a section. However, there is a work around that you could test (in a test database please), based on the premise that accounts are ordered in the section by the order in which they are added:

1. Create a dummy section
2. Use the DTW to move all accounts from the section you need to adjust, to the dummy section
3. Use the DTW to move all accounts, in the required order, from the dummy section back to the section you need to adjust
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 as needed
5. Delete the (now empty) dummy section.
