Hi!
I have read with interest an older thread on this same topic[bcs---master-data-change-in-productive-system; and have read the SAP notes specified. I would like help clarifying a few things before implementing this solution.
The issue that I have is that normally at the 11th hour at month end a new item needs to be created in BCS. The time taken to create it in DEV then transport it through QA to PROD puts huge pressure on the month end timelines.
If I implement the FINBASIS changes provided in note 592239 for UCITEM what does this mean?
1) Can ITEM only be maintained in production?
2) If so, how do I keep my 3 environments in sync?
3) Or can ITEM be maintained in development but not added to a transport request?
4) Or do I create ITEM in production and then afterwards create it in DEV, add it to a transport request and transport it to all environments to keep them all the same?
5) If the ITEM is not created in the DEV and QA environments then what do I do if there is new config (e.g. reclass) that uses the ITEM?
I would appreciate all help in trying to understand the impact of this change, also if there are any other alternatives.
Regards,
Julia
