OpenDocument from Dashboard need click URL button twice (BI 4.1 SP10 FP3)

Greetings,

I got problem with the Dashboard not triggering the target url the first time clicked (if the dashboard opened directly from open document URL (not from Launchpad, which is ok).

Steps:

1. Open the opendocument (dashboard) from browser (page 1)

2. Click the URL button which should open Page 2 (dashboard/same window)

3. The Page 2 doesn't opened, instead the Page 1 got reopened again

4. Click the URL button again, this time the Page 2 opened

Anyone got the same issue?

Tested with SAP BI 4.1 SP10 and SP10 FP3 (latest)

Is the issue with this specific Dashboard or there are many affected ones?

Any other reports also having the same problem ? (Webi/Crystal)

Which browser you used to test the URL? IE/Google Chrome/Firefox - You can test with other browsers and test the behavior.

You need to generate Fiddler traces to capture the calls or to understand where it navigates to when clicked for the first time. Fiddler will help you identify the cause and eventually resolve it.

Are you logged in to BI Launchpad using SSO or not? If SSO then try bypassing it and check.

I suggest you collect the above details (most important the Fiddler traces) and open an incident with SAP to investigate if the issue does not get resolved.

Thanks for the response.

Occured on all dashboards (including the new empty dashboard with 1 url button). Didn't occured with the old system which using 4.1 SP5.

The issue only happened on dashboard URL button triggering opendocument in same window (ok for new window). OK if triggered from webi, haven't tried crystal.

I used IE, firefox and chrome with same result.

The tracelog for opendocument didn't capture the url on the first click, only on second click the url captured in trace. Haven't tried fiddler though.

Either SSO or bypass SSO (enterprise login) got same issue.

Hello Hendra,

What is the server name in the OpenDoc URL? Are you using hostname, FQDN or IP Address?

Check the behavior by using hostname, FQDN or IP Address - one at a time in the opendoc url.

From where are you accessing this URL? Client machine/server box? - Check from both the locations. You can also try using 'localhost' in the URL and test the behavior from server box.

I would also like to know how is the URL button designed? Are you using absolute path or relative path in the URL button to navigate?

I suggest you create a new dashboard with URL button and check with it. or modify the existing one by using any of the server names: FQDN, hostname, IP Address and again check the behavior.

If none of the above resolves the issue then I suggest you to open an incident with SAP to analyze on a screen sharing session the exact cause of the issue and fix it. Also do attach the fiddler traces that you have taken along with the incident so that it is easier for an engineer to troubleshooting.
