material variant BOM explosion

Hi PP Masters,

I have created a MATERIAL VARIANT as FERT (finished goods). I created a planned independent requirement for the material (PIR, MD61) then ran MRP (MD02) then converted the planned order into a production order.

My problem is this. Although i created a bom for this material, the production order didnt have any components, and when i try to manually assigned components i doesnt seem to work.

What settings should i maintain for the material variant in MATERIAL MASTER and the BOM for Material variant??

I would really appreciate if someone could help me.

Hi Heinrick Palad..,

Are you working on Variant Configuraton. if so you have to write the dependencies to pick the components from your super BOM. moreover there are steps you have to follow to work on it.

Please go through LO-VC it's master peace of variant configuration.

if any issues come back.

Hi Sir,

I have already maintain the configurable material (KMAT) and it worked just fine.

Now im trying to assign the configurable material into a MATERIAL VARIANT.

Can someone explain to me the MATERIAL MASTER SETTINGS, BOM and others that are needed to be maintained for this material variant.

Hi Heinrick Palad..,

For variant material: In the basic data 2 tab of material master give the Kmat name at cross plant CM and click Configure Variant and configure the variant there.

for BOM you dont required to maintain any settings only thing is you have to create a Super BOM.

if not clear come back.

Do i have to create a BOM for my MATERIAL VARIANT? What is the strategy group that i

should use? Can i use 10 (make to order) or 54 (planning variants)

Hi Heinrick Palad..,

you donot required to create a separate BOM for Variant.

your KMAT has so many variants depends on the items it is going to pick based on your configuration in CU50. to pick which item and how much quantity in the Super BOM depends on the dependencies you are going to write.

Stratergy depends on client requirement. use stratergy 25.
