iam a fresher. can u tell me what is the number range? and what is the use ? is it used in creation of personal number? please explain in detail.rewards should be assigned.

Hi Sasmita,

Number ranges in SAP-HCM(HR) - Personnel Administration is used for defining Personnel number of employees.

It is of two types (1. Internal - Personnel Number of an employee gets generated automatically,

2. External - Personnel Number of an employee has to be entered manually)

Once the number range are defined at this stage, the same has to be assigned to either company code, personnel area or sub area, employee group or sub group based on the client requirement.

Apart from Personnel Administration number ranges are also used in Organizational management, Personnel development, Training & Evening Management...etc based on the field which we define.

eg: (Organizational Management - structure of an organization is defined here)

Here we can define number range for Org. Unit, Position, Job..etc separately.

hi all,

while going for recruitment action in R/3 release 4.7, I am facing an error in PB10(initial entry of applicant data), where it is showing: "NUMAP was called with incorrect parameter value PME15" and Runtime error is showing. I have checked everything from vacancy creation, advertisement done, number range assignment done, features done. In NUMAP my decision tree is showing activated and error free. So, I am in a fix as to what to do? Can anyone suggest a solution to this?? PLEASE do this ASAP, as it is very urgent.......

Hi Sasmita,

Number range is a range of numbers. This is used for assignment of a number to an object/ person.

Yes, this is used to assign a number when a person is hired in the organization.

Again, this number range could be internal or external.

Internal means, system will assign a number. NUMKR is the feature used to default a number from number range to an employee. NUMAP is the feature used to assign a number from number range, when assigned to an applicant.

External means, user will assign a number of his choice.
