How do I patch livecache?

18 Views

Per a message I have open with SAP, I am supposed to patch livecache according to note: 753528

I downloaded: Support Packages and Patches -> SAP Application Components -> SAP SCM -> SAP SCM2007 -> Entry by Component -> SAP LiveCache -> SAP LC/LCAPPS 5.1 -> Linux on Power 64 -> LC770322A6010_4-20002023.SAR.

When I uncompress this and view the readme, it looks to be a new

installation, not a patch. Is this correct? The instructions say:

Installing MaxDB on Linux

-

1. Open a root shell.

2. Change to the directory which contains the MaxDB package you have

downloaded.

3. Unpack the MaxDB package.

4. To start the Installation Manager, enter ./SDBSETUP

5. Choose "Start MaxDB installation". Follow the instructions of the

Installation Manager.

6. After finishing the installation, exit the root shell.

7. Update the PATH environmental variable for the operating system user

who is going to operate MaxDB, for example using export

PATH=/opt/sdb/programs/bin:$PATH

If necessary, add it to the login profile of the operating system user as

well (for example, .bash_profile in the user's home directory).

For further information refer to the MaxDB documentation on

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/maxdb/en/default.htm.

It doesn't mention what to do if we already have livecache installed.

Do we have to uninstall the old version first?

Will this cause any data loss?

Thank you.
