Update non SAP Oracle Database with ABAP

dear all

we need to update a non SAP standalone oracle database with data from SAP and we plan to do that from an ABAP program in a ERP 2005 system with NW 2004s .

requirement : evaluate data within SAP and write this data to the external oracle database.

does anybody know how to do that , we never have done that before ?

is there a possibility like db-connect in BI systems ?

if yes , how can i connect to this DB and write/read data to/from this DB using ABAP ?
