Is it possible to migrate KNB4 data? (e.g. LSMW)

Thanks for any help.

Hello Gerd - what is the business reason to migrate it? I would discuss it with the accountants.

Hi Tammy,

Thanks for your quick replay.

The requirement is to migrate customer data (kna1, knb1,knb5, knb4) of an existing company to

a company wide number range. (the company already exists in SAP)

Does the company already exist in your SAP system or is it in another SAP system?

LSMW is a last resort in my view; depending on the volume, I would look at using Data Services

Basically all migration programs (batch input, bapi, Idoc, no matter if started and used in LSMW or independed of it) follow more or less the process of manual data creation.

As this KNB4 data cannot be maintained or manipulated manually the chances to find any standard migration tool are minimal.

Beside of that, looking at your purpose for this, to "migrate" within one system into a new number range, is actually creating so much inconvenience when running reports on historic data that a loss of this KNB4 content is the smallest of all trouble.

I am certain you have good reasons for such consolidation, but basically you are creating duplicate records and people have to look at 2 numbers to get the full picture of historic data like sales figures etc.

The better approach for such use case would be a SLO project instead of a migration project. For more information: https://www.sap.com/services/data-mgmt-landscape-transformation.html
