How to configure TMS and upgrade SPAM:Support Package Manager

Dears:

I just finish ECC 5.0 installation. And i already update the latest kernel for it. But now i want to upgrade the support package level. So for the first thing, i will upgrade the SPAM:Support Package Manager first.

I download the latest SPAM upgrade files. And after importing them to the queue, then i click the menu import SPAM/SAINT update, there is error message, please see them as below:

The import was stopped, since an error occurred during the phase

CHECK_REQUIREMENTS, which the Support Package Manager is unable to

resolve without your input.

After you have corrected the cause of the error, continue with the

import by choosing Support Package -> Import queue from the initial

screen of the Support Package Manager.

The following details help you to analyze the problem:

- Error in phase: CHECK_REQUIREMENTS

- Reason for error: TP_CANNOT_CONNECT_SYSTEM

- Return code: 0208

- Error message: error in transportprofil (param missing,

unknown,...)

Notes on phase CHECK_REQUIREMENTS

Then i check the TMS, i input t-code STMS, then i find that i have not configure the transport management system. There is an message box popup and let me to input the Transport domain name and so on. In fact i find there is default value there which is correct with my ECC 5.0 SID and so on. So i click the save button, then the STMS configure is completed.

Then i go back to the SPAM and update the SPAM again, this time the error as above not happen any more. But i find that there is an status message show me DD IMPORT finished with returncode 4. Then stop there.

I go to STMS again and i find that there is an transport queue SPAM/SAINT Update - Version 640/0026 there, but the status is request will not be import.

So i don't know which step i was wrong. If anyone can help?Because this is a new system, so i don't know what else i still need to configure so that i can update SPAM succefully? Or if there is anything wrong with the configure of TMS?

Hi,

One of the post installation steps for any SAP installation is the STMS configuration.Once the transport Domain is configured you can go to System Overview and create External System(for exp: QAS,PRD ..etc).If you don't want to create external systems create Virtual System say DUM there. Then from the Transport Routes first create a Transport Layer say ZDUM and create the transport routes between the systems.Once that is doen your basic STMS config is done.Return code 4 means warnings only so you can ignore it,do the SPAM/SAINT update again.

Sam
