Hey,
What is the significance of assigning company code to company? I understand the difference between these organisational units but why should we assign them in IMG.
Hello,
The business group is represented by the company. The company code is the further segregation of the company. Let us say... Nestle... they have operations all around the world. The company name will be NESTLE, but there will be many company codes under the company. This is because in each country the finance setup and taxation structure will be different.

The organizational assignment is as per functional Domain.........
there are Various group companies.
They want balance sheet as per different Company Code
So you have a parent goup company in which is a summation of various group companies.
There can also be taken into one particular chart of accounts for all the company codes.
reward points if helpful,
regards,
Amlan

All the company codes which are under one group(for e.g. companies in Coca Cola group) are assigned to the Group(for example Coca Cola Group).
The purpose is to assign common variables defined at the Company level to the company codes also and for consolidated reporting
purposes.
