Field Symbols

Hi,

I think that dereferencing the data reference enables you to evaluate and change the content of a data.

I wish to receive some example about this. More exactly, let's suppose to read a sorted or hashed table. I can use a <fs> in this way:

READ TABLE itab ASSIGNING <fs>

if sy-subrc = 0 and <fs> is assigned.

modify fields

    For Dynamic structures (created at runtime) you can use field symbols

    ie

    create data dref1 type (p_table).

    assign dref1->* to <fs>.

    read table itab assigning <fs>

    but if the structure is static then

    DATA wa type ref to structure

    READ TABLE itab REFERENCE TO wa.
