Hiring Employee in USA without SSN

Hi Gurus!

Need your guidance to tackle the issue we are having with transfer employees!

How can we hire an EE transferring from Spain to USA without SSN as it takes times to apply and get one. Since our system is built ( mandatory field) to input SSN, completing Hire is impossible. Is there a work around as its an exception and we don't want to spend hugely to build something different.

Thanks for you help!

Thanks for your response Sarah. This will not help us as we don't run Payroll from SAP. Its more of a process issue which we are thinking to address by a specific action/action reason to temporary hold the employee whilst SSN is processed.

Hi, check note 1622929, it detailed how to use excluded number range. It says:

The excluded area number range 900-999 remains unchecked. This allows SAP customers to adapt their business process to use numbers starting with '9' for employees who have applied for but not yet received their SSN. If the SSN stored in the system for an employee starts with '9', the SSN field for this employee will be shown as 'Applied for' in W-2 reporting and the SSN will be issued as '000000000' in all supported formats (EFW2, MMREF-1, etc).

    Hope this help

    Hello,

As per the field documentation in this case you can use 999-99-9999.

Note: For those employees who do not have a social security number, it is allowed to enter a dummy SSN '999-99-9999' to bypass the checking for duplicate SSN.

    Hope this helps.
