Need to change UME after dual stack split

Hello ,

We have an EP ( Enetrprise Portal ) which is a dual stack system (ABAP + JAVA)

Database - Oracle

OS - HP Unix

Netweaver Version - 7.02

Now we are planning to split it into Java and Abap with new upgrading version to 7.5

where ABAP and java will be in different servers and after splitting UME will only remain in ABAP side.

My question is how we can move UME it to another existing abap system in the landscape or to the newly java system which we got after splitting.

    Hi Prakash,

I found this in one of the dual stack split guides

3.2 User Management The dual-stack split procedure does not change the user management and you cannot choose which kind of user management you want to use for the target AS Java system. That is, the separated Java system and the ABAP system both use the user management of the former dual-stack system.

    The following is possible:

    ● If the dual-stack system uses AS ABAP as data source for the User Management Engine (UME), after the split the separated Java stack will also use the ABAP UME.

    ● If the dual-stack system uses an LDAP directory as the source for user data, this is also valid for the Java stack. In both cases, manual configuration is not required. We do not recommend that you make modifications to the user management settings.

For more information, see SAP Note718383. Note If the UME data source is configured to use an ABAP data source and the UME data source configuration file is not one of the supported files mentioned in SAP Note718383, the tool does not work.

    Also, check the wiki

    Thanks Mr. Prithviraj

This is what i also read in the SAP dual stack split guide.

Actually our system is the EP ( Enetrprise Portal ) where ABAP stack is there for the UME purpose only and if you check other dual stack systems like XI/PI and Solman where ABAP stack servers for UME purpose as well as for some ABAP configurations.

So if i will split my system only UME will remain in ABAP and so for just a UME purpose we do not want to use a server.

Here can we move the UME after splitting to another ABAP system in the landscape or to the java stack which we got after splitting .
