SAP Router

Hi experts,

we are currently evaluating the best way to setup a saprouter in our complany to connect to other SAP systems, so I have some basic questions about it.

1. We have a server and a virtual environment. Is it necessary to have a windows server license, like 2012, or is it possible to run a saprouter on a standard windows (non-server) OEM?

2. Is there a possibility to have a saprouter in SAP Cloud, so we don´t need to host it ourself?

Thanks in regards

Tim

Hello Tim,

About your question:

  1. It is supported to run the saprouter at any operating system supported by the SAP kernel (so, Windows Server editions, SUSE/RHEL Linux, UNIX).
  2. The saprouter can be used to connect two servers that cannot connect to each other directly (like two servers on different network segments / VPN).
Although it would be possible to run the saprouter at an SAP Cloud server, would it make sense to do it (based on the network topology involved)?

Regards,

Isaías
