Option "Invalidation of ARFC Metadata Cache" not visible

Hi all,

the option Invalidation of ARFC Metadata Cache not visible in the webdynpro console. We are trying to clear the ARFC cache but not able to find the option available. Anyone has an idea about how to have this accessed or an alternative solution to clear the ARFC cache.

Hi Vinay,

The Metadata Cache Invalidation Tool is available from the following releases

1. NW04 or 6.40 SP21 Onwards

2. NW04S or 7.0 SP12 Onwards

3. NW 7.1 SP3 Onwards.

HI Uday,

My versino is 7.0 SP9, so i believe that the option is not available. So do you mean to say that to invalidate the ARFC Cache, the only possible way is to restart the java server??? I dont think that we should be doing this. Is there an alternative approach to invalidate this cache for versions below 7.0 SP12?

Hi Vinay,

Re-starting J2EE engine is the best option under these circumstances. I have seen this method implemented in various production scenarios successfully. May be you can think of other options, but J2EE restart has consistency. There should not be any problem re-starting Development and Quality environment. You can schedule restart of production environment during week-ends or non working hours.
