HI

Technical System and Business system

In the Systems Catalog we define each Technical system in the landscape. The technical System correlates the software to the physical host on which it is installed. The exact settings for each system depend on the system type.

Technical systems are the basis for defining Business Systems. The association between the Technical System and Business System is dependent on the TS type; for instance, in a system based on Web AS (ABAP), each client in the system is a separate Business System.

To create a Technical System definition there is a wizard interface in the SLD.

For defining Business Systems, the four important pieces of data are:

• Business System Name (must be unique in the landscape)

• Associated Technical system name, and if the Business System will be used with IDoc interfaces, a Logical System Name

• The Software Products (and associated SWCV’s) that are used by the Business System. The products are brought through from the Technical System definition; but for a particular Technical System, not all products will necessarily be associated with a particular Business System.

• The Related Integration Server.

All of these settings can be defined in the Business System Wizard.

Technical System: TS is a conceptual representation of a physical system, such as physical sap server with a number of software components installed.

Business System: BS is a conceptual representation of a logical system, such as a specific client on a SAP server or a 3rd party payroll application.

Hi Kumar

Logical System

System in which applications sharing a common data basis run. In SAP terms, a logical system is a client in a database. Messages are exchanged between logical systems.

Systems of the Central User Administration (CUA) are referred to using logical system IDs. In the SAP sense, a logical system is a client. Therefore you must first set up logical system names that you then assign to the clients in the SAP systems.

It is possible that the logical system name already exists because you have already included the system in an ALE distribution. You can then ignore the procedures Define/Set Up Logical System and Assign Logical System to a Client.

Business systems are logical systems that function as senders or receivers within the SAP Exchange Infrastructure. You configure business systems in the SAP System Landscape Directory (SLD). A business system is always associated with a technical system (here: SAP Web AS ABAP system).

Hi Kumar,

Logical System:is the name which is used to represent the Client (Ex:100,200...)representation and use in Idoc communication

Business System:Business System is logical name of the Technical system.

In XI Messages are exchanges in two Business systems only.

Under one technical systems we need to create 'n' no of business systems.

Hello Kumar,

what is a Logical System? why we create it while creating of Business System?

-->In SAP terms, a logical system is a client in a database. Messages are exchanged between logical systems.

Logical system is created in the SLD. For e.g you are posting an Idoc.

what is a Business system? What is use of creating it?

-->

Business System have an entry in the SLD and Buiness Service do not.

Business Systems are used when you are sending data to and from an R3 system and can be of ABAP, JAVA and Third Party Types.

Business System is a logical representation of a Technical System.

Business Service is a abstract representation of a System. For instance, www.google.com have a several system working together and IPs of this machines change eventually. When we use a Business Services like google we reference a computer that we don't know the phisical implementation.

Business Service and Business System difference-

why we maintain a Logical system name?

--> Logical system is maintained to communicate with different systems under the distribution model of ALE Layer.

This is the official Training Material, it will not be possible to get it as direct..you need to approach any of the training Institute.

Thanks,

satya Kumar

Hi,

logical systems are used for IDoc/ALE:

Business systems are used in SLD/XI for representing systems. In a SAP system each client represents one business system:
