How to block the material ,

what are the implecations if we block a material?

Do you mean blocked for purchasing.

MM01/MM02

Basic data screen X-plant material staus - 01 blocked for procurement/whouse

or you can flag material for deletion

MM06 - Immediate

MM16 - Scheduled.

Hi,

The best way is to keep the materail status with deleted or blocked for puchase / sales and need to maintain in the materail master.

You cannot delete the material from material master until archiving but you can block that material for any procurement

Goto Basic data 1

X-plant matl status -

---

01 Blocked for procment/whse

02 Blocked for task list/BOM

10 Blocked for MRP

Select any one.

Valid from -

---

Here you enter valid date from which the material should be blocked.

So from this your material will be blocked for any PR/PO/any transactions related to Procurement

block the material by selecting relevant value from the bd1 view in material master btu in this case thi smaterial will get blocked in all the plants of the company code

you can block the material in MMR in purchasing view the field plant specific matr status select 01 or the req based.with this you can block the material for procuremnt.

i think its clear .

Warehouse No.

Storage Type

So that It will not allow any transactions at that Level..

and also in MMD at

01 Blocked for Procmnt/Whse

02 Blocked for task list/BOM

BP Blocked for Purchasing

KA Blocked for Costing

OB Obsolete Materials

PI Free for Pilot Phase

Z1 Blocked for Procmnt/Inven

Thanks for the reply,

Even after making the material for delition at plant level in MM06 transaction,

Still system is allowing me to create Sales order with warning message as "Material is marked for delition--VL406"

But I have tried to change the message status from warning to error, but i couldnt get the navigation path for changing this message status.

Could u plz tell me the area where we can change status for this message number VL406.

you need to customize the sales status and enter it in the material master.
