Dear All,

I have read the document about the broadcasting in BI 7.0... My question is what this use for? and if I want to speed up the large data query using precalculate query... is this the one that I have to use? else... What can I use to speed up when opening a large data query, except using aggregate or BI accelerator (if still need to speed up after aggregation)?

Hi,

Information broadcasting is used to send a report through mail to respective persons.

Report can be sent in different ways like it can be send as link, PDF file, Excel file etc.. So depending upon your requirement you can choose and send mail daily. This is one of the tool for precalculated query.

Thanks for the fast reply. It means that we can't speed up the query using this tool? If it is send as a link, what kind of link it is produce, is it going to the query or going to the precalculated html. If it is going to the precalculated html pages, it is not possible to do the drilldown from here, am I correct?

Dear All,

I am still confuse with the information broadcasting. I read an article that there is "fill precalculation store" option in distribution type. But when I try to publish my query to the Bex Broadcaster, I cant find this option. Anybody can tell me why this happened? and what this option use for?

Hi,

Information broadcasting allows you to make objects with business intelligence content available to a wide spectrum of users, according to your own requirements. It also offers functions to optimize performance and for exception reporting.

Some scenarios where IB is useful,

You can choose between distribution types, for example, broadcast e-mail or broadcast to portal. For both distribution types, there are conceptual scenarios and ad-hoc scenarios.

Conceptual scenarios are created together with the IT team, consultants and power users from the various departments (knowledge workers and authors). Using the broadcast settings that were scheduled previously or triggered by a data change, the system automatically distributes the relevant BI content. Business end users (information consumers) have nothing to do with the distribution of conceptual scenarios.

With ad-hoc scenarios, the infrastructure for the process is predefined and the process can be executed by business end users during data analysis. Employees that receive standard reports and use the data as an information source can distribute the reports ad-hoc using the BEx Broadcasting wizard.

Some other ways to increase query performance:

Use ST03N -> BW System load values to recognize the problem. Use the

number given in table 'Reporting - InfoCubes:Share of total time (s)'

to check if one of the columns %OLAP, %DB, %Frontend shows a high

number in all InfoCubes.

You need to run ST03N in expert mode to get these values

Accordin to these parameters we can do some changes and settings to query so as to reduce thses runtimes if any shows high values.

In this way we can increase query performance apart those menthods mentioned by u.
