What I suppose, if you confirm the quantity less than the actual to produce, system status will be PCNF only.
It is not possible to change the system status from PCNF to CNF until and unless you have to reconfirm the remaining quantity.
For eg: In pharma industry, we create orders for some desired output, but the output is based on Quality, mostly there system shows.
Only the problem is while closing of order, u have to technically complete the order which is partially confirmed.
