Hi Everyone,
I am writing development guidelines for use with BI IP for my client, and was wondering if anyone had any examples of how they manage version control within IP (i.e. managing versions of a plan etc).
Also, are there any versioning considerations I need to be aware of regarding delta loading & scenario planning?
Any help appreciated!
thanks
Tim
Hi
Version Management is very important for planning.
It is always a good idea to define version that are specific to BPS/IP.
If you observe R/3 we see versions0/1/2/3/4/100/101 etc as Standard planning versions. Verison0 hold actual and plan, you need to differentiate on the basis of Value Type.
Coming to the question of Versions--give business some guidelines to define their versions....ex:
201--Annual Budget (First Pass/First Cut)
202--Annual Budget(Second Pass/Second Cut)....etc
If you have "Retractions" in scope and you are going to bring plan values post retraction into BPS/IP then have a different version for the same as 301/302 as many as you should and could.
You need to run through few iterations with business before you can freeze "Versions"
