Settings for the hosts file (MS Loopback Adapter)

I've completed the installation of the SAP netweaver application server trial package, complemented with MaxDB database manager and MaxDB studio.

Though I have green lights in SAP MMC for the server icon (and can start-up to "SAP Easy Access" without any problem), the dbase icon remains blue and empty. Unfortunately, both the MaxDB programs can't be started. I wonder if this malfunction has something to do with me not modifying the hosts file.

I'm using a stand-alone Windows 10 laptop, named "LapTopLier" ("LapTopLier" appears as both the dbase and server name in SAP MMC)

I have already installed the MS Loopback Adapter, with IP and mask

What line should be added to the hosts file?

Perhaps it's also useful to know that the installation of the trial package did not work until I copied - upon suggestion of a fellow forum user - the folder [c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc] to [c:\windows\SysWOW64\drivers]. As a result, there are now two (though identical) hosts files in my system.

only defined mask or also defined Default gateway & primary & secondary DNS. The thing is you told that its all green means working, so now did you try login through GUI? i think in your other similar question thread we(me & regan) informed you on how to login to the SAP for your trial.

Kaushik, the problem in not that I cannot (or don't know how to) log on to the SAP system, but that neither MaxDB Database Manager nor MaxDB Studio seem to work (though both of them were installed without any errors). I already followed Regan's advice of installing MaxDB Studio in stead of SQL Studio, but to no avail.
