Can u tell me what are the pre requisite for patch upgrade in any system.

Hi,

For ABAP patches take a full database backup.

For Kernel upgrades make a backup of the folder usr/sap/sys/exe.

After upgradation is all my development gets overwritten?

Hi,

Your custom developments(like zprograms and ztables) will not be effected.If you have changed some SAP standard applications then they will be effected.You can prevent even this changes by modification adjustments.

This will be done while applying the abap patches.

Hi,

Modification adjustments are the adjustements which are done in order to prevent the changes which you have done in standard SAP programs.Simply ask you developer to assign to a transport request and save it,dont ask him to release the request but dont do any transport of this request.SAP will asku you in the abap screen generation phase tomake this adjustments then just goto SPDD and SPDD to make the adjustments.

Changes to SAP standard programs are called as Modifcations.
