Hi Experts

I am beginning with Mobile app development in SAPUI5..

I have gone through some links: https://blogs.sap.com/2015/11/10/an-insight-into-sapui5-thorugh-free-online-resources/ and many more. Most of the said links require creation of a web service. My doubts:

1. Is a web service always required for SAPUI5 development?

2. Is web service not required for SAP Web IDE development?

P.S. I am using Eclipse Oxygen for development, ECC 6 system.

Any pointers in this regard would be helpful.

Regards

Dinesh

Hello Dinesh,

This depends on your requirements.

If you wanted to access back-end information, you would need a way to access this information, e.g. via an OData web service. This would of course be independent of using Eclipse or the SAP Web IDE.

Alternatively, if you only only wanted to access information from your mobile device sensors, this could run autonomously:

SAPUI5 Applications with native Capabilities

Best regards
