business process

I know the concepts of demand planning but I do not know how it works in a real time process.could anyone help me to understand how the module of demand planning works in a consumer products industry. can you please let me know how many planning books, planning areas, master planning object structures would be used. also on what level would the planning be done and what types and how many CVC's would be used.

Thank you.

would be a good idea to read the basics of APO demand planning - there are a couple of books mentioned in the wiki in this forum and the wiki itself is useful

the help in SAP also describes a few business scenarios

most of what you asked are dependent on the business and your project requirement and dont have a suggested number or guidelines you would find anywhere. the general idea is to minimise planning areas and cvcs but not at the expense of the business functionality.

Planning object structure : where you will be selecting the plannable charecterestics like : product , location/ customer etc.

planning area : This is attached with the Planning Object Sturture and here you will select the key -figures like : Historical Forecast / Corrected Forecast / Forecast / Historical Sales etc. Multiple Planing area can be attached with single MPOS ( Master Planning Object Structure)

planning books : This is attached with Planning Area and here also Multiple Planing book can be attached with single Planing Area . Herre you will be selecting the charecterestic and key figures on which you would like to plan.

Data views : This is attached with Planning Book and here also Multiple Data View can be attached with single Planning Book.In data view you can select the key figures out of the Key figures which you have selected in Planning book. The data view is only the object which user will use.

      cvc's: You will create CVC via /sapapo/mc62 in the MPOS. e.g : 12345/1020/2000190 ( product / location / customer )

forecast models : different models like seasonal / trend /constant etc are available in DP . Depending on the business scenario you have to aopt it.

macros : The planning activites which you want to do it automatically can be designed via macro.
