Personas 3.0 - Can't open DWF file in Chrome

Hi,

We are running Personas 3.0, SP5.

I'm working on a flavor for t-code IE03 (Display Equipment). On the Linked Documents tab, users can select a document and click the Display Originals (eyeglasses) button to view the document.

Document are either in the PDF or DWF format. IE opens either one with no issue. Chrome opens PDFs fine, but displays the following error message for DWF files:

If I examine the object which contains the error message in the script editor, it tells me it is a CTL_HTML/shellcont/shell. I'm guessing this is some type of HTML viewer or something along that line.

As far as I can tell, this is not specifically a Personas issue. If I attempt the same action using the original screen, I still get the error. It appears to me that the shell control is not capable of displaying a DWF file in Chrome (the same issue occurs in Edge).

We are trying to avoid running Personas in IE as the response time is so much slower than Chrome. Unfortunately, our users open a lot of DWF files, so if I can't find a solution to this issue, we may be forced to use IE.

Has anyone else ran into this issue, or is anyone aware of a solution?
