CRM 52 vs CRM 2007: key differences

I would like to know the key functional differences at 10,000 foot level between CRM 52 vs CRM 2007. Yes I know I can read the master guides between the two releases and make a comparison, but I want to know beyond the following what do I gain by going to CRM 2007.

What I know so far

-

CRM 2007 is in mainstream maintenance for a longer period of time

CRM 2007 has more UI refinements including more personalization options

CRM 2007 has trade promotion management functionality and CRM 52 does not

CRM 2007 is the "go-to" release for CRM

What I like to know

-

- What key CRM functionality is missing in CRM 52 or not advisable to go live with

- What other "bling" (borrowing this from fellow SDNer David H.) does CRM 2007 have vs CRM 52?

- Any key business processes justification for an upgrade?

- Could you do an upgrade from 40 to 52 in a month on a relatively vanilla system after upgrading dev. Think two weeks dev work/testing, two weeks qa testing. I'm serious about that target as I would like to minimize the time/resources needed.

- If both CRM 52 and CRM 2007 are on the same netweaver release, does this reduce the technical downtime of the upgrade? In other words does the upgrade only upgrade BBPCRM and the CRMUI components or does it do everything over again.

As always most answers will be appreciated. I will also kindly reward points & kudos to those souls who can help with these answers.

Take care,

Stephen
