Error in SO creation - Maintain plant XX for the sales areas, Message V1762

Hi,

This is a brand new sandbox environment and we are setting up the whole system. Created the org structure, created the stock and while creating a sales order, ran into the following error message: Maintain plant XX for the sales areas, Message no. V1762.

Sales area has been defined, Plant has been assigned to the right company code, plant has been assigned to the compbination of Sales org and division. Plant and shipping point maintained.

I am not sure what else needs to be done and why I am not able to create a sales order. Any ideas please?
