KPI Monitor in VC

Dear all,

I'm trying to create a KPI monitor using BEx queries as the source, the output via a VC model.

Within the BEx Query Designer, how can I:

1. Get a query to run, without the user required to enter a variable, to show this month's data only (from beginning of current month to current day) ?

2. Get a query to run, without the user required to enter a variable, to show the whole of last months data only ?

I think both issues are to do with the restrictions I put on the time characteristic in the query designer, but I don't know which ones to use.
