MRP Lot Size Difference

Former Member

Hi All

In OMI4 ie. MRP lot size procedure i see several MRP lot sizes i.e. EX, WB etc....

But only major difference i find is in terms of scheduling i.e.

Blank (Requirement date = delivery date), 1 (period start = delivery date), & so on i.e. 2, 3, 4

Can anyone tell how it works?????? What is its significance

Example would be very good for me

Please suggest

Hi Vichy,

For Example

Lotsize = MB

PIR requirement date = 01.05.2008

blank = req date =del date

Planned order finish date = 01.05.2008

1 per start =del date

Planned order finish =01.05.2008

2 per end =del date

Planend order finish = 31.05.2008

3 Period start := start and period end := delivery date

Planned order start = 01.05.2008

Planned order end = 31.05.2008

4 Period start := start date

Planned order start = 01.05.2008

Thanks Pradeep for clarification

I have one more doubt....As per mail;

For Example

Lotsize = MB

PIR requirement date = 01.05.2008

blank = req date =del date

Planned order finish date = 01.05.2008

But suppose my in house production time is 3 days then how can be requirement date of PIR i.e. say 01.05.2008 will be equal to order finish date?? How will i produce the material??

How does system / MRP interpretes this???

Same doubt is for below option also????? Hope i m clear

1 per start =del date

Planned order finish =01.05.2008

Hi,

I assume backward scheduling will be carried out,

For first questions

if u do the Basic date scheduling system will work backward from the requirement date .

Inthat case Planned order start - 28.04.2008

planned order end = 01.05.2008

(3 days - 01.05.2008).

For second questions,

Also u will get same result.

hI,

If you have set the sched ind as req date = del date , it means that the material should be available on the same day as that of the reqmt date.

Hence it is scheduling the finish date of planned order as same the reqmt date. say 01.05.08

To make the material available on 01.05.08 , the production shd start even before.

If you have backward sheduling, then planned order will be scheduled backwards from ordfin date and the order start date will be arrived.

say 01.05.08 to backwards

Ord start date = 28.04.08

[ 01.05.08 - GR Proc time ( 0 days) - Inhouseprod time (3 days) ]

Hi Vicky,

Requirement date = delivery date

Planning or procurement proposal will create on req date

Period start = Delivery date

Planning or procurement proposal will create on period start.

ie, if you use period lot size WB,MB.

WB means weekly lot size ie, on Monday cumulated requirement will create for that week. Same for MB, month end planning proposal will create.

Period End = Delivery date

ie, if you use period lot size WB,MB.

On Saturday cumulated requirement will create for that week if you use WB. Same for MB.

This concept will not work if you use planning time fence.

The major differences are in Lot size procedure and Lot size indiactor. Have a look at the options for these 2 fields and compare. For example EX has a static lot size procedure but WB has Period lot-size procedure.

Dear

You are correct and even i m aware of it.....I guess i only quoted wrong

If u see lot size W2 & WB; only difference is in scheduling

W2 = P, W & 3 whereas WB = P & only W......

This is where i am confused

Hope i m clear now
