Crystal Reports for Enterprise - Save the report in BI Platform with a local connection ?

Hi all,

We have migrated our reports "Crystal report XI" to BI 4.1 platform sp7.

In XI, the connection is managed within each report.

All reports are migrated with UMT, and they work perfectly.

But, when we made any change, we need to remap with a new connection (local or server).

If we keep a local connection, we can’t save the report to CMS !! FYI the report is already in CMS 4.1, and it’s worked.

How to save a report, in a CMS BI4.x, with a local connection ?

Hi Marc,

CR XI only had one version of Crystal Reports Designer.

BI 4.1 now has two flavours of Crystal Reports - The legacy designer called Crystal Reports 2016 and a new Crystal Reports for Enterprise designer.

When you 'migrate' reports from a older version of CR to BI 4.1, they don't get automatically converted to the new CR for Enterprise version. They're simply converted to the latest version of CR that is 2016.

If you need to convert them to CR for Enterprise, you'd need to first create a 'Relational Connection' within CMC.

You can then open the report in CR for Enterprise designer and map the database connection to use the new 'Relational connection' that resides in the repository. You should be able to save such reports to the platform.
