Legal consolidations

Hi

I have scoured this site the best I can for any information on using BPC for consolidations. Other than mentions of JE's and copying of a high volume of records, I do not see very much. I have also done a lot of reading including all the implementation guides/manuals that I could find (yes, even the 220 page exciting one!).

HAS ANYONE OUT THERE ACTUALLY IMPLEMENTED BPC FOR LEGAL, MGMT AND TAX CONSOLIDATIONS FOR LARGE COMPANIES?

Would appreciate an answer!

Thanks

Thanks Jeff.

I should have been clearer. I was referring to companies that had used the Legal Consolidation (not just management consolidation) for their entire global operations - not for divisions within their companies.

I think it is a really neat tool for the user.

Hello Tara,

SAP Business Planning and Consolidation has been implemented successfully for legal consolidation for a number of very large customers. Telecom Italia is a $42 B company that does so and is very satisfied with the solution. This is an approved quote from Mr. Luigi Pirola, Director of Financial Reporting:

"Telecom Italia uses OutlookSoft (SAP Business Planning and Consolidation) for our current base of over 1000 users to meet our complex consolidations, management reporting and planning needs.  We intend to evaluate the feasibility of moving to SAP Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC) on SAP NetWeaver as information becomes available in the context of our applications and infrastructure to meet our growing needs and to benefit from the latest innovations in BPC. We are very pleased with SAP's commitment to the BPC platform, and their recognition of it being superior to anything in the market.  We look forward to working closely with SAP to ensure that the next generation of the product, FPM 8.0 continues the innovations we saw in BPC, and is a non-disruptive upgrade as SAP incorporates its range of Financial Performance Management assets."

Best Regards,

Nenshad

The only companies that appear to have installed Outlooksoft (that I know of )are companies under $1B. with fairly simple org. structures.

This looks like a great product for a company that is moving from Excel to a more controlled system. But I question its use in a company where they are going from one system to another...as they seek a better alternative to their current systems.

BPC / OutlookSoft is in use by clients of all sizes including companies among the top 100 globally in annual revenue (tens / hundreds of billions in annual revenue). Like any software tool, BPC has limitations and competitors. Prior to the acquisition by SAP, it was on generally par with Cognos and Hyperion products...each having strengths / weaknesses relative to the others. Post acquisition, it continues to improve relative to the other major planning and consolidation tools.
