Design Studio link to Webi document prompts with OpenDocument log on screen in Chrome

We have a DS app that displays summary information and has a button that will generate a detailed Webi report with the full result set. In IE, the OpenDocument link passes seamlessly through to a new window and refreshes the Webi document. In Chrome (which is what the end users will be using), the link opens an OpenDocument log on screen in Chrome. Our users need to be able to pass directly from DS to Webi without being prompted (again) for their credentials. We're currently on BOBJ 4.2 running DS v1.6. Any suggestions on (a) why authentication is behaving differently in Chrome and (b) how to resolve this? Thanks!

Are you using hardcoded server name or IP in the link ? Did you try with a relative URL ?

For example, if you use following script

APPLICATION.openNewWindow('http://server_IP:port/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?iDocID=XXXXXX&sIDType=CUID');

and use following URL to login to BI Launchpad:

http://servername:port/BOE/BI

then it is natural to get opendocument authentication window.

Hence, I would suggest you to use relative URL like:

APPLICATION.openNewWindow('/BOE/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?iDocID=XXXXXX&sIDType=CUID');

That was it. As soon as I dropped the URL and referenced the relative path, the OpenDocument prompt was skipped and the Webi report refreshed. Thanks!

Hi Tammy. We're on BI4.2 SP4 patch 2, although I don't see our specific situation listed in Fixed Issue doc.

Hi Brian,

I have tested launching a WebI URL from a Lumira 2.1 Designer application in Chrome, using both APPLICATION.openNewWindow() as well as the Link component. In both cases the WebI report opens in a new window without requiring re-authentication. I am running BI 4.2 SP05.

Regards,

Mustafa.

Thanks Mustafa. We're still on DS 1.6 and haven't made the leap to Lumira 2.x yet (and likely won't for a while) so I I'm stuck with figuring this out on our existing platform.

Unfortunately, I can't test on DS 1.6 for you as I recently upgraded all my systems to Lumira 2.x but I'm pretty sure I didn't encounter this issue on DS 1.6 either.
