There is no pre-defined logic for selecting Costing methods such as Unit Costing / Detail Planning. Based on business requirment, the method will be decided. Whenever there is no details available Cost Planning through Detail planning is used whereas if all required infromations for Costings such as materials, accitivity types etc are available then we can go for Unit Costing.

Unit Costing is more systematic which will give complete details of Cositng with item category such as materials, internal processing etc.

    Hope this will clarify you.

    Best Regards,
