Installing 2 systems on a host - Memory Constraints

Hi Experts,

I wanted to install a Netweaver[DB2] system and Solution Manager4.0[Maxdb] system on a windows host[4GB RAM].

I have installed the same. Both the systems have the ABAP and JAVA AS. Can you please tell how the system will share the physical memory and virtual memory here.

Where can I restrict that the Netweaver system should use a total physical mem of 3 GB and Solman a mem of 1 GB.

Can you please help.

Thanks & Regards,

Vera

    Hi,

Nowadays 4GB ram for 2 Netweaver (and specially dual stack ) based systems is IMHO not enough.

You can tweak it but you will get bad performance and memory oriented problems.

If you absolutely want to do it, use the PHYS_MEM_SIZE parameter. Don't forget also to reduce the memory for the databases.

The way to go is now 64 bit. We don't put less than 16 GB RAM for a single netweaver system and put 32 GB for up to 3 Netweaver systems on the same host. You need also a lot of swap (20 GB for 1rst system + 10 GB per additional system).

    Regards,

    Olivier
