giving file permission

Dear guru's

Please anybody clear my doubt during the support patch uploading when we get error ,then it will ask to give file permission.so i need to know how can we give file permission.

First give all the rights to the file/folder which you are using

hi

this is OS level .

give full acces to the folder/file it is asking for to the 'OSuser' used for xi installation.

on which OS you have installed xi ??
