Installation failing at Start Instance step

Hi All,

I am installing Solution Manger 4.0 with Ms SQL server on win 2003 server. Intsallation is failed at 24the step"Start Instance". I observed that, at this step it started the DVEBMGS01 instance and stopped and then restarted the instance. At this point dispatcher of that instance is stopped and the step failed.

Can anybody help me solve it.

Hi,

Try starting the instance manually from SAPMMC console and the continue with installtion.

Please send the log if possible.

Hi,

please check if the database services are started in the Services.msc console. If stopped please start the Service and continue. hope it helps.

Increase the page file size if it is on demand and increase the parameter PHYS_MEMSIZE parameter which takes this page file increase for your instance

I had this exact problem with installation of Netweaver 04s SR3.

In some log I found a message saying that the page file was not big enough to perform some operation.

After checking the windows page file I found out it was only 2GB, extended it to 8 GB max, then rebooted and retried the installation at the point where it left and everything worked fine afterwards.

Check your paging file and give it plenty of space.

Hi,

Please provide the startup.log,what is the output of R3trans -d?

Also see the trace files in the work directory.
