Preprocessor failed with 6401 http status code 401: unauthorized

Hi,

I have seen the other threads with this same error. My index_service user is not locked as per note 800895. I also tried the fix in note 650521 setting the parameter unescape_url=no in TREXPreprocessor.ini. I didn't find any other SAP notes that might help. The host and alternative host in URL Generator Service is also correct.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Rick

Hi Rick,

you might also want to have a look at SAP Note 989323, which could also help solving your problem.

Hope is does,

Hi Robert,

Thank you for your reply. I just recently changed from SSO via IIS Proxy to SPNego. Could that be the cause? If so, the note might resolve the issue. I have not been able to find the default ticket stack in the security provider. Can you tell me where to look? The note is not specific enough for me since I am such a novice.

Thanks again,

Rick

Hi Rick,

if you changed the Authentication Mechanism to SPNego this could really be the problem described in the ticket.

You can control which login module stack in the J2EE Engine controls authentication by modifying the authschemes.xml. Please check SAP Help documentation on more infos on how to do that: [Defining an Authentication Scheme|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/d3/1dd4516c518645a59e5cff2628a5c1/frameset.htm] and [Changing the authschemes.xml File|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/1a/3afd4e641b8f42ac07bb77fe30375b/frameset.htm].

If the after reading the SAP Help information you are still not able to apply the solution from the SAP Note you might want to open an OSS ticket or get support from a portal consultant.

BTW: Another often discovered reason for the error mentioned by you is an expired SAPLogonTicketKeypair certificate.

Hope this helps,

Robert

Hi Robert,

Thanks again for your reply. I will check the help link. I couldn't find the authschemes.xml file on the Portal server or the TREX server. If the help link does not give me the right answer, I will open an OSS.

Thanks again,

Rick

I found out how to edit the file through the config tool.

Thanks again,

Hello Rick,

We have a similar problem. Could you please let me know how you solved this issue? Ours is a webrepository and some links come up properly in comp. monitor while others give

"startup failed" with the 401 .But if it was a problem with logon tickets how can some links be indexed properly.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Vineeth,

You could try this as a workaround. Enter an Administrator user ID and password in the TREXPreprocessor.ini file.

You will see the below entry under the heading [httpclient].

#basic authent

user=

password=

Hope this helps.

Rick
