Migrate Sybase IQ from AIX to Linux (different endian formats)

Hello All

we have a SAP NLS solution based on BW 7.4 (oracle) with Sybase IQ 16.1 and would like to migrate this complete solution from AIX to Linux (different endian formats). For SAP BW the instructions are quite clear (the R3load approach) .. but for Sybase IQ the documentation is not very straightforward. There were some recommendations in this link but is still not very clear as the instructions seem to indicate moving data at the table level - rather i am looking for instructions to migrate the entire SAP IQ database

Hi, I would also like to know more about point 2. It doesn't seem to be clear.

For # 2 - If you use iqunload to extract data for a table then it will generate a create and load statements as well in the reload.sql. You will just need to move the data file (.inp ) and reload.sql over to the target machine and execute it on the IQ server.

Hi, thanks for the answer .. is there any document you could point me to that illustrates these steps. ? Also your point 2 is not clear.. do you have to export one table at a time and import one table at a time .. surely there must be a more simple solution possible

Thx

Hi,

I just completed 1 task very the same -- migrate IQ from AIX to Linux -- here's my steps --

1. Use iqunload -- to extract both DDL and DML from the source IQ -- and extract to NAS which connect to both AIX and Linux servers and both have read/write permission on it.

2. while exporting -- once completed 1 table -- then load table on the linux to import that table's data. -- here needs some shell control ...

...

After all data moved, shutdown the old AIX IQ server and rename the linux IQ server to original one.

HTH.
