Scheduling and interoperability between Discovery and Designer

I am developing a Lumira 2.0 dashboard and taking advantage of the interoperability between Discovery and Designer to accomplish this. In Discovery, I have created several enriched datasets which will be used as datasources within Designer. Within the same LUMX document, I have created an analysis application with Designer which will be the end-user dashboard.

My question is whether or not I can schedule the refresh of the LUMX document and have the most recent data (latest instance) be accessed when the dashboard (the default analysis application for the LUMX document) is opened? I know I can load and refresh the datasources with scripting within Designer, but I want to have the content refreshed behind the scenes and always available when the application is opened.

Has anyone tried this and been successful?

Thanks in advance for any advice and tips...

Hi Carl - I think the best chance of success for something like this is using Lumira 2.1 with BI4.2 SP05 as this version has scheduling. See https://blogs.sap.com/2017/12/11/what-is-new-in-sap-lumira-2.1-asug-webcast-reporting2017/

What is the data source?

Hi Tammy,

Thank you for the quick response, as you usually do!

The Discovery datasets are based on UNX data sources.

I will look at the information in the link you sent along. I am currently on Lumira 2.0 SP3 and will consider the upgrade if this will accomplish the refresh as I am hoping it will.

Do you feel as if the scheduling in Lumira 2.1 and BI 4.2 SP5 will accomplish what I am looking for? What is different from the scheduling that is currently offered in version 2.0 (as it does refresh the content as expected, but access to the refreshed content within Designer is still unknown).

Thanks again...

Carl - I am a little less certain with UNX as a data source; only because I am not as familiar with that as BW. But I think it is worth a try.

In 2.1 Scheduling is offered with Lumira Designer 2.1 (first figure in the blog link above).
