Dear All,

Can we attach Pictures in any format to material Master data.....

My client wants to attach the Material Drawing with the material in SAP ..... is there an possibility to do that...????

Go to MM02,

click on system on tool bar.

Select Service for Object and then choose create, and Create Attachment,

Upload the file and Save.

Without DMS is there any other way...... either in Material Master Data or at PO.....

u can try this.

first save the picture as an attachment in ur pc.

go to mm02here u will find services for object just above additional data tab-select it and further select create-in create u will find create attachment-select it---now select the saved attachment and open it.

after this save the material.

try this but not sure if it will work.

its working in PO ....but in mm02.... the option for create attachment is disabled.....

In the Quality Inspector role, you can display, upload, and delete documents during results recording for inspection lots.

Display, Upload, and Delete ArchiveLink Documents for Inspection Lot

In results recording for inspection lots, you can display or delete ArchiveLink documents for inspection lots. ArchiveLink documents are documents that were created using the generic object services. At inspection lot level, in the characteristic overview, and in the characteristic detail view, you can also upload documents for the current inspection lot using SAP ArchiveLink.

The following formats are supported:

• ADOBE PDF

• WORD DOC

• GIF

• JPEG

These functions are only available inside the firewall.

Display DMS Documents for Production Resources and Tools and for the Inspection Method

As a result of the document integration, you can display documents that are assigned to production resources and tools and to inspection methods. These documents are stored in Document Management (CA-DMS).

Production resources/tools

In results recording for inspection lots, in the characteristic overview or in the characteristic detail view, you can display documents that are assigned to the current inspection characteristic or inspection operation as production resources and tools.

Inspection methods

In results recording for inspection lots, in the characteristic overview or in the characteristic detail view, you can display documents that are assigned to the inspection method for the characteristic.

Information "No Document Exists" is displayed.

Feature of inspection methods:

For inspection methods, the long text of the inspection method is displayed if no document exists at characteristic level.

Feature of production resources and tools:

For production resources and tools, all documents at operation level are displayed if no document exists for the production resource and tool at characteristic level.

The Web dynpro for document integration is integrated with the following Web dynpros:

Prerequisites

ArchiveLink Documents

In Customizing, you have made the settings for ArchiveLink documents under SAPNetWeaver ® SAP Web Application Server ® Basis Services ® AchiveLink.

It is particularly important to set the fields for the document class and the object type. These settings ensure that the documents can be displayed in the browser.

DMS Documents

In Customizing for Document Management, you have made the basic settings required for document management. To do this, choose Cross-Application Components ® Document Management.

• Maintain Control Data

You can, for example, define the document type in such a way that the original files are stored in defined storage systems (content repository) via Knowledge Providers.

When you are defining the link between a document of a particular document type and the object, you define the relationship type (for example, 1:n for the relationship between a document and the material master record).

• Maintain General Data

Define, for example:

¡ Workstation applications that are used to edit the original documents (for example, files with the extension gif)

¡ Storage systems that are used as secure areas for the original files

¡ Profiles that group together proposed values and default settings for the processing of original documents

Optional Settings

The functions for ArchiveLink documents are only available inside the firewall.

You can use the Business Add-In (BAdI) DOCUMENT_WEB02 to display DMS documents outside the firewall. In this case, you use the BAdI to provide a generated URL.
