Could you please check the log in trans directory and could you provide that to analyze the error.

As this error may have different reasons, need to analyze the error

I can tell you that I have set the environment variable dbms_type = mms, but why it is still saying that environment variable dbms_type is not set.

this is from the file ULOG08_2

Hi!

Are you using windows environment. If so,

Make sure that the environment variable DIR_LIBRARY is set for the operating system users that manage the source and the target system and that it is filled with the correct value. The value must point to the executable directory of the respective system.

Example: SIDadm must have the value /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run for the variable DIR_LIBRARY in its environment

Just check the environment variable dbms_type., where you have set mms, it is not mms, just rename it to mss.

from the error i can see the environmental variable are not set properly,

Just check once the envi variables as sidadm user

MSSQL_SERVER: specify the database server

MSSQL_DBNAME: enter the name of the SAP database (in the case of 'normal' systems this is <SID>, in the case of MCOD systems the corresponding 'collection' database).

if not set these parameters

and sometimes this can occur due to buffer issues

first check the buffer and then clean the buffer and try transporting

and finally if you got an yahoo or gmail id

give me that..so that it will be easy to rectify the problem

This might be also when you try to transport the request with out releasing it.

Just release the request and try to add it in the queue and then try.

This doesn't make sense as you can't import a transport wiyhout releasing it as no cofile or datafile will be generated.

Dear all,

I have been in identical situation this days. I am running SAP ECC6.0 with SQL 2005 database.

I had returning code 0249 with dbms_type error.

Found a sap note that helped me. it is 31559. All you need to do, is to check in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\<sid>\Environment are there enviroment variables set. For unexplained reason, for our SAP DEMO system, these varialbles was deleted ..i dont know how it happend.

There is a tool in kernel directory called NTENV2REG.EXE. just run the file, and variables will be set in registry. after that, everything works fine. I hope that this will be helpfull for you, as I was trying to manage this error for 4-5 days.

This usually happen when environment variable dbms_type is not set. value of this variable depend on the DB your using... example: for Oracle is ora, mssql is mss, etc..

This should solve your problem
