Tranporting the Webdynpro Application w/o NWDI

Hi Experts,

We dont have NWDI setup in our System Landscape. So to transport the Webdynpro Applications to QA & Prod we have to perform a Manual Deployment through NWDS.

I have deployed the Webdynpro Application named as EmployeeInformation in the Dev System through NWDS.

But unfortunately I cannot use the NWDS in QA to deploy the Webdynpro Application due to security reasons. And the deployment has to be done by an Administrator.

So as per my understanding we have to perform the following - Please Correct me if I am wrong

- Inorder to Move that above application EmployeeInformation to QA

- The administator has to obtain the EmployeeInformation.ear from the Dev System and do a Manual Deployment through SDM to the QA System

Question :

1.Where can we find the EmployeeInformation.ear in the development System?

2.Is EmployeeInformation.ear enough to move my application to the QA System or we need to transport some other files also?

Would be really thankful if I can get the answers to above question.

Best Regards,

Roby..

Hi,

1.Where can we find the EmployeeInformation.ear in the development System?

You can get the ear from your NWDS itself

Go to Navigator View-> from the filters uncheck the gen

On top of the Navigator View -> You will find one arrow with tool tip menu under this you will be able to find filter

Now you will be able to see the gen folder structure as part of your WD Application.

Gen->default->deploy-><your app>.ear

This is the location of the file.

2.Is EmployeeInformation.ear enough to move my application to the QA System or we need to transport some other files also?

Is EmployeeInformation.ear enough ->Yes.

Hi Ayyaparaj,

Thanks for your reply.

The Filter with tool tip "menu" which you mentioned doesnot have any entry with name gen.

So that means the WD application by default must be having the gen folder structure

But I did not understand this

Gen->default->deploy-><your app>.ear

This is the location of the file

Do I need to navigate somewhere but I couldnt fine any Gen ... Can you please help me in this regards please.

Hi,

The Filter with tool tip "menu" which you mentioned doesnot have any entry with name gen.

Once you select filters a popup comes up and you will see *.class,.JETemitters,gen....

uncheck the gen from this place.

Following is a sample path

E:\ce71sp3.jdi\LocalDevelopment\DCs\demo.sap.com\testcomp\_comp\gen\default\deploy

Hope it will shed some light.

Hi Robert,

1.Where can we find the EmployeeInformation.ear in the development System?

You can find your "EmployeeInformation.ear" in your work space.By default the workspace is set to the location "C:\Documents and Settings\<loggeed in user name>\Documents\SAP\workspace\<EmployeeInformation>".

Hi ,

You can also do it Through NWDS

1)Change the J2ee Values

Windows->Prerences->J2EE engine enter Quality system's Host and Port.

2)Deploy ur application again.
