Problem in downloading ALV Report output into spreadsheet

Hi Gurus,

i developed a ALV Report, when i tried to download to Excel sheet, it is working fine. when i tried to download through local file into rich text box, Html, Notepad, it is working fine. when i tried to down load to Spread sheet option of local file download option. i am able to down load.

but, their is a character field with 18 characters length, whcihc contains numerics, it is displaying in exponential format. when i double click on that, i am able to see the numeric but last two digits it is displaying '00' instead of some number.

when field length is 15 characters, it is working fine.

if anybody come across the same issue, pls help me out.

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Pavan

    Apparently that is the typical excel behavior with big numbers.

    I suppose what you are displaying is a numeric string, right?

    hye pavan.

    This is a very common problem, and the problem is with excel.

    Try using this FM GUI_DOWNLOAD with filetype DBF

    CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD'

    EXPORTING

    filename = "location.xls"

    filetype = 'DBF'

    write_field_separator = 'X'

    TABLES

    data_tab = itab

    EXCEPTIONS

    file_write_error = 1

    no_batch = 2

    gui_refuse_filetransfer = 3

    invalid_type = 4

    no_authority = 5

    unknown_error = 6

    header_not_allowed = 7

    separator_not_allowed = 8

    filesize_not_allowed = 9

    header_too_long = 10

    dp_error_create = 11

    dp_error_send = 12

    dp_error_write = 13

    unknown_dp_error = 14

    access_denied = 15

    dp_out_of_memory = 16

    disk_full = 17

    dp_timeout = 18

    file_not_found = 19

    dataprovider_exception = 20

    control_flush_error = 21

    OTHERS = 22.

    IF sy-subrc <> 0.

    MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE sy-msgty NUMBER sy-msgno

    WITH sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.

    ENDIF.

    Replace the buttons with astrieks.(comment) and change the fields in green. This will download exactly in the database format.

    dont forget to reward if helpful..

    Thanks,

    Imran.
